Updates!

Well its hard to believe that fall term is coming to a close. I, personally have 3 weeks of school left and then a nice month long break. I can’t wait, and I am sure you can’t either :)

Induction season is coming to a close and as an NLC member, I had the pleasure to attend my chapters induction as well as a nearby chapter. My chapter had about 100 inductees which is awesome and I was so impressed with the decor and professionalism of this year’s induction ceremony at Florida International University.

I had the opportunity to attend the induction ceremony at the University of Miami, which was a really good experience. I was so happy to see an big increase in inductees compared to last year. They had such a good idea of placing the pins on a flower stem and handing a flower to each inductee.  I loved the creativity of seeing a different spin on handing out the pins. After the ceremony there were a lot of inductees interested in the NLC and asked me how they can be apart of it in the future.

I also heard from Andrew, the NLC president that Stony Brook University had over 300 inductees. That is amazing and such an accomplishment!  If you want to see pictures or here more about it, you can email Andrew at Bruskin@nscs.org

If you would like me to write about anything special that your chapter did for inductions, email me at vega@nscs.org

Care Highway, a great Service!

It has come to my attention that there are several NSCS chapters in the Southwest that have been involved in a great organization called Care Highway. The Link to the their website is www.carehighway.org and you should check it out for yourself. Personally, I had never heard from them until now but after looking over their site it seems to be a great cause that anyone could offer their help too.

Care Highway aims to help in areas of the world where people are suffering and are in great need due to catastrophes caused by man or nature. We are working face to face with those who are in need. Care Highway has different projects going on around the world and you can take a look for yourself at the picture section of their website. As a chapter of NSCS you can donate, fund raise, volunteer in Africa or become a member of their organization. Take a look at it and see how your chapter can benefit this amazing humanitarian aid organization.
