Manchester Bidwell Corporation

I hope that all of you had an amazing Thanksgiving!

I am sorry I have not been able to update, I have been without internet and to top things of, it is my final exam week :(   Its okay, I bring news!

Recently, Andrew Bruskin (President of the NLC) was lucky enough to take a trip to  Manchester Bidwell Corporation, to visit one of Bill Strickland’s schools. If you went to the 2007 convention, Bill Strickland was one of the speakers who were able to share his experiences with the members.  Andrew, along with Brandon Huseman (Vice-President of NLC), Steve Loflin (NSCS Executive Director) and Shanna Houser (Director for Member Experience) were able to visit the school in Pittsburgh, PA on Tuesday, November 20, 2007.

Some of you may be asking, what does Manchester Bidwell Corporation have anything to do with NSCS? Bill Strickland, has opened many schools in hopes of inspiring young people to succeed in life. His corporation, The Manchester Bidwell organizations are diverse entities that combine to create a model for arts, education, training, and hope to reshape the business of social change. NSCS was lucky enough to have him speak at our convention. Take a look at his website at http://www.manchesterbidwell.org/

Andrew stated that his outlook for the trip began after Mr. Strickland spoke at the convention. Andrew stated “I initially forwarded the idea for visiting Manchester Bidwell to Steve Loflin after the summer convention in Philadelphia. I, like all of the other NSCS members who were present for Mr. Strickland’s speech, were extremely impressed at his vision and his determination to never give up, even when facing impossible odds. Like many of the other keynote speakers that we heard, Mr. Strickland is a role model for many NSCS members. This mutually beneficial visit was important in laying the foundation for any future communication and partnership between the two organizations.”

Overall, NSCS is looking after its members, keeping its eyes open and is engaging in every possible opportunity that can have the potential to greatly benefit its members.

If you have any comments or questions, dont hesistate to email Andrew at Bruskin@nscs.org  and if you have any news or information to share, please email me at vega@nscs.org

Good Luck on Finals!!!
